Philosophical Significance
Core Meaning
This verse says the Divine is not obvious to everyone because God’s power (Yoga‑Maya) hides the ultimate reality. The world of forms and distractions covers the truth, so people often miss what is real.
Most people live in a state of delusion, treating changing things as permanent. They do not recognize the Divine who is unborn and unchanging behind all appearances.
The way to perceive that unchanging presence is inner work: calm the mind, study truth, and open to grace. Seeing the eternal is possible when we stop identifying only with passing roles, thoughts, and desires.
Life Application
- Spend a few minutes daily in quiet or simple meditation to notice what is constant beneath changing thoughts and feelings.
- Reflect on impermanence: remind yourself that roles, possessions, and moods change, so look for what does not change (peace, awareness).
- Serve and relate with humility; treating others and events as expressions of a deeper reality reduces self‑centered delusion.
Reflection Question
What habit or belief keeps me from noticing the deeper, unchanging presence in my life?
