Translation

Behold, O Teacher! This mighty army of the sons of Pandu, arrayed by the son of Drupada, thy wise disciple.

Philosophical Significance

Core Meaning

Arjuna points out the large, well-formed army to his teacher. On the surface this names people and positions on a battlefield.

Philosophically, the verse asks us to first see clearly the forces around us — our problems, duties, and supports — as they are arranged. Calling attention to a respected teacher and a capable organizer reminds us that skill, guidance, and duty shape the situation we face.

The deeper lesson is to observe without panic: recognize the structure of your struggle, value wise guidance, and prepare to act from clarity rather than confusion.

Life Application

  • When stressed, pause and look at the situation calmly; name the parts of the problem before reacting.
  • Seek practical guidance from someone experienced or from your inner wisdom, and use that advice to arrange your next steps.
  • Prepare steadily and skillfully for the challenge instead of rushing or avoiding it.

Reflection Question

What are the main forces arranged before you now, and who can guide you to meet them wisely?
