Translation

Know also, O best among the twice-born! the names of those who are the most distinguished amongst ourselves, the leaders of my army; these I name to you for your information.

Philosophical Significance

Core Meaning

Here Krishna tells Arjuna the names of the most important warriors in the army. On the surface it is a factual listing, but philosophically it shows the need for clear knowledge about the world around us.

Knowing who does what helps remove confusion. When roles and responsibilities are clear, we can act with wisdom instead of panic or ignorance.

This verse also reminds us to distinguish between information and attachment: learn the facts, respect duties and leaders, but do not cling to names or status as the final truth.

Life Application

  • Take time to identify the key people and responsibilities in your life before making big choices.
  • Use clear information about roles and duties to guide your actions, not emotions.
  • Respect positions and skills, but act from duty and principle rather than from pride in titles.

Reflection Question

Who are the main people influencing your choices, and do you clearly understand their roles?
