Translation

The Blessed Lord said, Again, O mighty-armed Arjuna, listen to my supreme word which I will declare to you, who are beloved, for your welfare.

Philosophical Significance

Core Meaning

God begins by asking Arjuna to listen again to a highest teaching. Repeating the message shows its importance; truth often needs careful, repeated hearing to be understood and accepted.

He calls Arjuna both "mighty" and "beloved," showing that divine guidance meets us where we are — it honors our strength and cares for our heart. Teaching is personal, not cold or distant.

The motive is welfare. The lesson is given out of concern for Arjuna's well-being and growth, not to flatter or boast. True spiritual guidance aims to free and heal, even if it challenges us.

Life Application

  • When you hear wise advice, listen with openness and attention, especially if it is repeated or emphasized.
  • Accept guidance as caring, not as criticism; see it as meant for your growth, not as an attack on your ego.
  • Let teachings that promote long-term well-being guide decisions, even when they ask for change or effort.

Reflection Question

Am I willing to listen again to teachings that aim for my true good?
