Philosophical Significance
Core Meaning
Here Krishna tells Arjuna that he will point out the main, divine qualities by which the Absolute is known. He offers a clear guide but also warns that his glory cannot be fully listed.
This verse teaches two truths: the divine can be seen in certain clear signs and acts, and at the same time it is limitless and beyond complete description. Words and lists help us meet the divine, yet they never exhaust it.
Spiritually, this invites humility and devotion. We can learn and recognize important aspects of the sacred, while remaining open to mystery and deeper experience.
Life Application
- Notice and name the clear qualities of the divine in people and life—kindness, courage, wisdom—and let those qualities guide your actions.
- Use simple lists or reminders (short prayers, virtues to practice) to keep your attention on what truly matters without expecting to capture everything.
- Cultivate humility: accept that some spiritual truths come through experience, not only through study or argument.
