Translation

Arjuna said, "O God, I see all the gods in Your body, as well as hosts of various classes of beings, Brahma the Lord seated on the lotus, all the sages, and the celestial serpents."

Philosophical Significance

Core Meaning

Arjuna describes a sudden vision: he sees many gods and living beings inside the Lord's body. This image shows that the divine contains and supports all life and forms.

Philosophically, the verse teaches that the sacred is not apart from the world. The same ultimate presence appears in every being and role—creator, protector, sages, even serpents—so separation between “holy” and “ordinary” fades.

When we truly see the one reality behind all names and shapes, our sense of self softens. That shift brings humility, awe, and a natural urge to care for others and for life itself.

Life Application

  • Before reacting to someone, pause and remember they are an expression of the same life; this lowers anger and invites kindness.
  • Treat daily tasks and nature with respect—cooking, cleaning, caring for plants or animals become simple acts of reverence.
  • Spend a minute each day imagining the same quiet presence living in everyone you meet; let this steady your choices.

Reflection Question

How would one small choice today change if you truly believed the divine lived in everyone around you?
