Translation

Arjuna said, "It is fitting, O Krishna, that the world delights and rejoices in Your praise; demons fly in fear in all directions and the hosts of the perfected ones bow to You."

Philosophical Significance

Core Meaning

Arjuna praises Krishna’s revealed form, saying it is natural that the world rejoices, those bound by ignorance flee, and the wise bow down. The verse points to how the true Divine presence invites different responses from different hearts.

On a deeper level, praise or recognition of the truth awakens joy and love in receptive souls, while it exposes and scatters fear, pride, and ignorance. Realized beings respond with humility and devotion because they see the permanent reality behind the changing world.

This teaches that meeting the Divine (or higher truth) is not just a lofty idea: it changes how people act, dissolves inner fears, and draws us toward wisdom and right conduct.

Life Application

  • Begin your day with a simple moment of reverence or gratitude to connect to something larger than yourself; it steadies the mind and brings small joys.
  • When fear or selfishness arise, name them and turn attention to a higher ideal (a prayer, mantra, or calm breath) to weaken those impulses.
  • Spend time with sincere, wise people or texts; they inspire humility and steady your aim toward truthful living.

Reflection Question

When you meet something greater than yourself, does your heart open with joy, or do you resist it—and why?
